Shinrone Church

Shinrone Church

Dedicated to St Mary. The present church was built in 1820.

The site of the previous church is uncertain, but silver communion vessels which are in regular use were given by Elizabeth Baldwin in the early 1600's in memory of her husband whose grave is in the churchyard.

Situated in the village of Shinrone, the church is a focal point for the whole community and is floodlit at night. In 1980 when the Roman Catholic Church (also dedicated to St Mary) was being re-roofed, our church was used by that community for their worship.

Cloughmoyle school closed in 1971 is now used as a parish hall. It is a most picturesque early Victorian building.
