Aghancon Church

Aghancon Church

This is the oldest church in the group. The present church was built in 1787, John Darby of Leap Castle, (reputedly the most haunted castle in Ireland). There was also a grant of 380Punts from the Board of First Fruits.

In 1998 the church was re-roofed and the interior re-decorated and renovated. Fundraising for this was generously supported by all the local community.

The stained glass windows are of special interest in this church. They were originally in Ettagh church, and were moved to Aghancon after Ettagh church was closed.
